Forgiveness

The story-- "An Act of Forgiveness"

“Forgiveness is one of our greatest values. It transports us from humanity to divinity.”

Once, there lived two sisters, namely, Roma and Rita. Roma was elder to Rita by four years.

One day, they were playing hide-and-seek in their room. While sporting and having fun, Roma tried to hide under a table. There was a beautiful flower vase on that table. In a rush, she accidentally jerked the table. As a result, the flower vase got dropped onto the floor and broken into pieces. It caused a loud noise also.

Both of them were trembling in fear wondering that they would get a good thrashing from their mother immediately.

Hearing the noise, their mother came to the room running. She came to find the entire mess right then. Taking a glance at the two daughters, she found them very shaky.

Both of them told her, “We’re really sorry. It was an accident.”

Then their mother replied, “Of course, it was. Why are you two trembling in fear? Did I say anything? Anyway, we can clean up the mess together.”

“Sure,” they said.

They cleaned up the mess together.

Thereafter, their mother dragged them close and said, “Do you know why I forgave you? It’s so because I know that you can get yourselves rectified if you get a chance. However, remember it always that forgiveness is one of the greatest human values. You two also need to forgive others, right?”
